Some lives can’t be recreated. Not because the woods changed, but because the time that shaped them passed. Fred “Peter” Beck and Arthur Crouse grew up in Northern Maine when camps were full, seasons were long, and a life in the woods demanded everything you had. Over decades of guiding, winters at camp, and years spent side by side, they lived a way of life that no longer exists. This is Part 2 of their story...not about what’s gone, but about what endured. If stories like this matter to you, stories about the Maine that was, the people who lived it, and what still connects us to that world...you’re in the right place. These two films were made possible with the help of Jason & Sherry Bouchard of Chandler Lake Camps: a place that continues to preserve the kind of North Woods traditions and friendships this story reflects. When the woods were wilder, the stories were different. In this episode, we sit down at a northern Maine lodge with legendary guides Fred “Peter” Beck and Arthur Crouse to hear stories from a time when access was limited, seasons were earned, and the Big Woods demanded everything you brought into them. Through old photographs and firsthand memories, Peter and Arthur share what it was like to guide, hunt, fish and live in northern Maine decades ago...before roads, before GPS, and before much of this way of life changed. Along the way, you begin to see how a lifetime spent in the woods shaped not only their careers, but a friendship that’s lasted more than seventy years. This is Part 1 of a two-part series. Thanks for taking the time to be here.

After 23 years, we returned to a place we thought we’d left behind forever...the old deer camp. A camp once full of laughter, tradition, late-night stories, and lifelong memories… but slowly fizzled out as life moved on. This year, we made the decision to go back one last time. Not to chase deer, but to chase the feeling of who we were when this place was still alive. What we didn’t expect was what the woods still had waiting for us. In this emotional deer camp reunion, we revisit the trails we grew up on, walk into the old stands we thought we’d never hunt again, and reconnect with a part of our lives that shaped us. And against all odds, on land we believed would never produce another deer for us, we harvested a buck we never expected. A buck that felt like a parting gift from a camp that meant everything. Enjoy!

Let's go behind the scenes for a rare look at the heart and history of our camp. Every wood fire, every wall, and every old photograph tells a story. Today, we take you on a tour through our family’s camp...the place where tradition, friendship, and time stand still. From the cabin beginnings to the hunting and fishing stories shared under the glow of a fire, this is more than just a camp…it’s a legacy. Enjoy! #deercamp #cabin #cabinlife
