When the Woods Were Wilder | 75 Seasons in Northern Maine (Part 1)

When the woods were wilder, the stories were different. In this episode, we sit down at a northern Maine lodge with legendary guides Fred “Peter” Beck and Arthur Crouse to hear stories from a time when access was limited, seasons were earned, and the Big Woods demanded everything you brought into them. Through old photographs and firsthand memories, Peter and Arthur share what it was like to guide, hunt, fish and live in northern Maine decades ago...before roads, before GPS, and before much of this way of life changed. Along the way, you begin to see how a lifetime spent in the woods shaped not only their careers, but a friendship that’s lasted more than seventy years. This is Part 1 of a two-part series. Thanks for taking the time to be here.
